The paper being donated is left over from completed print jobs and is typically recycled by High Cotton. However, High Cotton employees decided to find a better way to utilize the paper and in turn, give back to the community in which it resides. High Cotton reached out to the Jefferson County School System to begin an ongoing partnership to help alleviate some of their supply needs.
“All of us at High Cotton are excited to have the opportunity to partner with Jefferson County School System,” High Cotton President Tommy McGahey said. “We are fortunate to be able to provide the Jefferson County School System with these much-needed supplies and support our local community.”
High Cotton will deliver the donated paper to the school system’s distribution warehouse in Birmingham on December 14, 2017. From there, it will be distributed to all Jefferson County Schools as needed.
“The Jefferson County school system is comprised of 36,500 students within 58 schools. All of these schools need supplies and we are very grateful for them,” says Executive Director at the Jefferson County School Foundation, Sally Price.
The donated paper will go towards art classes, printing, creating bulletin boards and other essential day to day operations. “We’re proud that this donation will be able to help students and teachers achieve more throughout the school year,” says McGahey.
